happy monday

not hard to think of things that make me happy today.

spent a great day goofing off and lounging with these two!

we got to sleep in and relax.
had a great bbq with our good friends the bagleys.
(which was not dampened by the rain or the fact that lucy is afraid of brielle haha)
and we finished off our memorial day with watching a very cool program about gettysburg on the history channel to help us remember our troops, past and present.

my fam acquired this amazing salsa recipe when i was in high school and now no brooksby family party or gathering is complete without it.
i had it at my wedding.
its like my kryptonite.

oh and yes. you make it by the gallon.
this is salsa HEAVEN.

checking out bri's new bibs makes me happy!
we made these bib/aprons for bri this week cause she is the messiest eater on the planet and cant help but get food on any shirt that she wears.

she takes after her grandpa brooksby :)

sunday lounging

i love having nothing to do after church except hang out and relax.

what a perfect day.

makes me happy monday

mondays are always yuck. but lately i have been feeling especially down about them.
bobby usually works on mondays so he is gone all day long and we miss him.
so i have been dreading them and feel crummy all day long because of the dread which i do not like.

the bottom line is, im trying to have a better attitude about mondays.

so on that note, i decided to start doing 'makes me happy monday'.
every monday i want to sit down and think for a few minutes about what has made me happy in the past week and share it.
its already making me feel better and im hoping that happiness will continue throughout the rest of my used-to-be-dreaded monday.

here it goes.

matching headbands with this girl at church yesterday makes me happy!
the silly faces that she makes dont hurt either.

seeing my 2 loves dressed in their iowa hawkeye gear makes me happy!

bris shirt was also my first project that i did on my sewing machine and it turned out much better than expected which also makes me happy!

this picture of bri and her girlfriend lucy playing at the park makes me happy!

the fact that these beautiful daisies are still brightening up my kitchen makes me happy!

and these two always make me happy!
especially since the smallest one just figured out how to roll from her back to her stomach and now i cant keep her on her back if i tried.
she is so proud of herself.
and her mom and dad are proud of her too.

so there it is.
i already have a smile on my face.

this is mostly for my own benefit so feel free to ignore it if you would like.

but i would love to hear all about what makes you happy cause im sure that reading about your happy times would help me start looking forward to mondays! :)

we had a great mothers day weekend here! bobby had saturday off so we got to spend the whole weekend together. i got some beautiful daisies from my family and a sewing machine from my sweet husband!! he was going to get me one for my birthday next month but i was getting anxious so he surprised me with it yesterday....he knows how impatient i am. haha i just love him. im so glad that i didnt have to wait a month and im so excited to start using it! :)

(by the way....check out the cheesy grin on this little girl huh??)


so here is a late happy mothers day to my amazing, sweet mother who taught me everything i know and continues to amaze me!
and also to my wonderful mother-in-law who raised the greatest husband a girl could ask for!
