just as a quick warning, if you don't like pictures of very handsome baby boys, your probably going to want to skip this post because it is going to be chalk full of them. i can't help myself.

we were so happy when september finally came around because it meant it was almost time for our little guy to make his appearance. my due date was sunday, september 8th, but we were scheduled to be induced around midnight the night of friday, september 6th so that bobby wouldn't have to miss any classes. on friday i had one last doctors appt. and ultrasound and everything looked good. but the doctor said that the hospital had been busy all day and so we would just have to wait for them to call us and tell us when to go in and he had no idea how late it would be. so friday was like the longest day ever! while we waited with our bags all packed for the phone to ring that night we wasted time by going to the mall with grandma, cc, and spencey to get cc's glasses fixed and then we went out to dinner. but when we put bri to bed we still hadn't heard anything. my grandma, who used to work in postpartum at thunderbird hospital, called one of her friends at work who told her they were still very busy and so we were starting to lose hope that we would get called in that night.

so we went to bed around 12 with the phone ringer turned up to full blast. and it finally came around 2 am asking us to be there by 3:20. we hurried and got dressed and gave our sweet, sleeping girl one last kiss and headed to the hospital! hooray!!!

 once we got there, things got started pretty quickly. they put me on a gel to get things softened for a few hours before they broke my water and honestly that was one of the worst parts. lots of contractions with little to no progress. but after 6 hours and 2 rounds of gel, i got my epidural, things were right in the world again, they broke my water, and i got to take a nap haha.

luckily for us it was an abc harry potter marathon weekend. it was meant to be! haha

 things went much faster than they did with bri but by 3:00 i was still only dilated to a 6. so they had me roll over to my other side. and literally the next contraction that i had i felt like i could push. i had a bunch of strong contractions all in a row and we called the nurse back in and in only 10 minutes i had gone from a 6 to a 10 and i was ready to go. it was awesome, i pushed through a few contractions and then our little guy was actually here!!!!

he weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 21 inches long :)

 we got to our regular room around 7 and found brielle waiting for us. we were so excited to see her! its ridiculously how much we missed her after just one day! and she was so excited to meet her baby brother!

*side note.....friday afternoon bri slipped in the kitchen on some water and fell hard right onto her sweet little face. friday night her cheek was bright red and looked like it was going to bruise. but by the time we saw her on saturday night, her cheek was bruised and she had a nice black eye starting as well. so in all our pictures of rayce's first week, bri has a beautiful black eye haha. it is finally starting to fade which makes me so happy! :)

 luckily we only had to stay at the hospital for 24 hours because we were really missing our little girl and couldn't wait to get home to her with her little brother. the next day was sunday, which we spent at the hospital watching football and getting all checked out so that we could leave that night. bobby was so happy that he got to watch the bears win with his little buddy!
